🎮 Game rules
A country is rejected if one of these two conditions is not met:
1. It doesn't match both criteria at once. Each cell is at the intersection of a row and a column — your country must satisfy both criteria simultaneously, not just one.
2. It has already been used. The same country can only appear once in the grid. Already placed countries appear greyed out with "Already placed" in the list.
The ⭐ Perfect game badge is awarded if you fill all 9 cells meeting these three conditions:
— 0 mistakes: every country you submitted was correct
— 0 hints: neither 💡 nor 💡💡 were used
— Daily puzzle only: training or archive games do not count
It appears in the end-of-game window and in the share image.
The grid changes every day at midnight UTC (Coordinated Universal Time).
If the page has been left open overnight, it reloads automatically as soon as the new grid is available.
This number shows the number of valid countries for that cell — the number of countries that simultaneously satisfy both the row and column criteria.
This counter disappears once the cell is filled. In reveal mode (after the game), click on a cell to see the complete list of valid countries with their rarity score.
Yes — the FR and EN versions are two separate game experiences. Each has its own grids, its own history, its own streak and its own statistics. A game played in French does not count for the English version, and vice versa.
You can play both versions every day if you wish. The FR / EN button in the header lets you switch between them at any time.
Both progressions are included in the same backup file, so you can export and restore them together.
🏆 Score
Each country has a rarity score between 1 and 1,000 pts. The less frequently a country is valid in Géogrille grids, the higher its score.
Your displayed score is the sum of the rarity scores of the 9 countries placed. The maximum score shown (X / MAX pts) represents the best theoretical combination for this grid — choosing the rarest valid country for each cell without reusing it elsewhere.
The score is not affected by mistakes or hints: only the choice of countries matters.
🌍 Geographic data
For countries spanning multiple continents or hemispheres, Géogrille applies a simple consistent rule: the capital's location is what matters, not the country's geographic extent.
💾 Progress & personal data
All your progress (streak, statistics, games played) is stored only in your browser.
Your data may disappear in the following cases:
— You cleared browsing data (cookies, cache, site data) from your browser settings
— You're using a different browser or device: data is not synced between Chrome and Safari, or between your phone and computer
— Private / incognito browsing: data is erased when the window closes
— App update or reset on mobile
The streak also resets automatically if you don't successfully complete the daily puzzle (loss or forfeit).
You can export your progress (streak, statistics, game history) to a JSON file, then re-import it on another device or after a reset.
